Essam Rashad, MD

Co-Founder & Medical Director · Synergy Health

Board-Certified in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine

Why I started Synergy

I trained in some of the busiest hospitals in the world — Dubai, London, Chicago — taking care of patients at their sickest and most vulnerable. That work taught me what great medicine looks like: unhurried attention, careful thinking, and a doctor who actually knows you.

Then I spent years watching the outpatient world move in the opposite direction. Seven-minute visits. Rotating providers. Patients handed off, lost in referral mazes, and given prescriptions instead of real answers.

I co-founded Synergy Health to practice medicine the way it was meant to be practiced — with time, attention, and continuity. A doctor who genuinely cares about your health.

That's the standard of care I'd want for my own family. It's the standard I built this practice to deliver.

A physician-scientist

Dr. Rashad is a peer-reviewed, published researcher whose work on obesity and metabolic disease has appeared in major medical journals and been presented at international conferences.

For patients, this matters for one reason: your doctor reads the research, contributes to it, and applies it to your care. When new treatments emerge — whether for weight loss, diabetes, or any other condition — you're being cared for by someone who understands the evidence, not just the marketing.

What Dr. Rashad treats

As a dual board-certified physician, Dr. Rashad provides comprehensive primary care for adults — including:

  • Annual physicals and preventive care
  • High blood pressure, high cholesterol, and cardiovascular risk
  • Type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes
  • Thyroid and hormonal disorders
  • Weight management and obesity medicine
  • Complex or elusive symptoms that deserve a real workup

Dr. Rashad lives in the Dallas–Fort Worth area with his wife and young son. When he's not seeing patients, you'll most likely find him chasing a fearless toddler through the aisles of HomeGoods, trying to prevent a china disaster.
